In 1975 the Bajrangi and his men are captured and Tiger Malsingh is captured and killed.
Sidhu now wants to find his biological mother, but to do this he needs a lot of money. He joins the black marketeers of the streets, but is discovered and put in a local jail. He later escapes, and the traders chase after him. Sidhu finds a way to hide his passage money by hiding it in a parathas packet in a bar, and starts his journey to Delhi.
On his way to Delhi he falls in love with a bazaar girl, and realises that Tiger Malsingh would have wanted him to have the money to look after her. Sidhu is forced to return to his house, but at the last minute decides to find his mother anyway.
Finding her is easier said than done. Sidhu eventually finds her, and she is able to recognise him. The film ends with Sidhu bidding his mother farewell.

Production
Sidharth Roy Kapur originally developed the idea for the film. He wanted to explore the theme of adoption in India. However, due to conflicts with other projects he was unable to proceed with the project. Four years later he reunited with his brother, the producer of the film, and convinced her to co-produce the film with her husband, Karan Johar.
During the making of the film, Sidharth and Karan were involved in a dispute with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who played Sidhu's adoptive mother in the film. Sidharth made an insulting remark to Bachchan which led to a public feud. Bachchan reacted by claiming that Sidharth had gone public to discredit her in public to cover up the affair between Sidharth and Karan's wife, Rani Bachchan. The film received media coverage for the incident. The two parties were later reconciled. Sidharth also wrote an epilogue for the film, in which he stated that he and Bachchan had reconciled.
